Two Boeing 737-900ER’s into the snow at Cincinatti and Moscow

On January 13, 2019, two Boeing 737-900ER aircraft departed paved airport surfaces, becoming stuck in the snow.

The first incident occurred at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, USA, were Delta Air Lines flight DL1708, slid off a taxiway after arrival. The aircraft became stuck in the snow and all passengers deplaned on the spot.

The second incident happened at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport in Russia. A Travel Service Boeing 737-900ER, flight QS1003 to Prague, suffered a runway excursion on takeoff.  After rolling 300 meters on runway 24C during takeoff, the aircraft veered off the left side of the runway, coming to rest in the snow about 100 m from the side.
