CAA Nigeria will track flight data of domestic airlines
10 November 2012

All aircraft operated by domestic airlines in Nigeria are to be fitted with Automated Flight Information Reporting System, as part of efforts to ensure air safety, according to the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr. Harold Demuren.

The NCAA will make the installation of the device in aircraft a compulsory requirement for all domestic airlines. The device will be included in carriers’ minimum equipment list, meaning that aircraft are only allowed to depart when the AFIRS system is functioning.

The control centre for monitoring all data will be at the NCAA’s office.
