18 July 2012

During a ministerial conference on aviation safety in Africa held in in Abuja, Nigeria, the Director-General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr Harold Demuren, has said that Nigeria was considering mandatory IOSA compliance for all its airlines.

The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. IOSA’s quality audit principles are designed to conduct audits in a standardized manner.

Currently all IATA member airlines have to pass the audit to become and stay member. Nigerian airlines that have already passed the audit are Air Nigeria and Arik Air.
