The Finnish Accident Investigation Board has launched an investigation into a serious runway incursion incident that occurred at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, Finland on December 29, 2011.
A Golden Air ATR-72-202A passenger plane, operating as Blue1 flight BLF218, was on final approach to runway 22R when another aircraft taxied onto the runway. The crew of Flight 218 executed a go around and performed a safe landing shortly afterwards.
The aircraft that had taxied onto the runway was flight NEF025, a Saab 340 turboprop plane operated by RAF-Avia on behalf of Swedish airline Nord-Flyg.
