Japanese court clears air controllers in near miss
21 March 2006

Two air traffic controllers were cleared of charges of professional negligence resulting in injury in connection with the 2001 near collision of two Japan Airlines planes over Yaizu, in which 57 passengers and crew were hurt. In handing down the ruling, the presiding Judge said that the errant instructions issued by the two air traffic controllers after they mixed up the flights were not the direct cause of the accident.
