AAIB issues low fuel warning system recommendations
9 February 2006

In an interim report on the February 2005 suspected low fuel emergency landing of an Airbus A.340-600 at Amsterdam, the AAIB issued 4 safety recommendations. The AAIB a.o. recommends the FAA and EASA to introduces the requirement for a low fuel warning system for each engine feed fuel tank. This low fuel warning system should be independent of the fuel control and quantity indication system(s). They should also review review if all aircraft currently certified to CS/JAR/FAR-25 to ensure that if an engine fuel feed low fuel warning system is installed, it is independent of the fuel control and quantity indication system(s).
