Japan to reinforce oversight of airlines

The recent series of incidents involving major airlines in Japan has prompted the Construction and Transport Ministry to consider increasing its oversight of public transport, including airlines. Looking to the U.S. FAA as a role model, the ministry will study the possibility of creating aviation safety inspectors to be stationed permanently at airlines, or increasing the number of supervisory officials.
