The Italian accident investigation board ANSV condemned the dissemination of the partial transcrtipt of the Cockpit Voice Recorder of an Airbus A319 accident at Parlermo in 2010.
Italian daily La Stampa and other news media quoted parts of the CVR transcript of the accident of Wind Jet Flight 243. On September 24, 2010 the Airbus A319 departed Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) on a domestic flight to Palermo (PMO), Italy. The aircraft impacted violently before the threshold of runway 07. All occupants survived the accident.
The Italian accident investigation board ANSV condemned the improper use of the transcript as this is likely to undermine their activities to improve flight safety. ICAO Annex 13 and the recent EU Regulation No 996/2010 expressly state that cockpit voice recordings and their transcripts should not be used for purposes other than accident or incident investigation. ANSV will urge the government to take appropriate action to ensure that this will be respected.
